I first visited here 16 years ago when there was very little in the area. The hotel has had a lot added onto it making it suitable for all age groups. The older part of the hotel does need some refurbishment but you are made to feel so welcome from the minute you sign in that little things go un-noticed. We book direct with the hotel and there is always a welcome drink waiting in the room. A nice start to a holiday. There are 2 swimming areas and there are always plenty of beds and umbrellas. There are pool bars but there is also poolside service if you can't be bothered to move. The accommodation is usually based on bed & breakfast but you can add on half board. The breakfast caters for every nationality. Apart from the incredible buffet where you are spoilt for choice there is cooking area which do fried eggs, omelettes and pancakes. The evening meal is also a buffet but there is always a carvery dish of the day and fish, steaks ets are cooked to order at the cooking area. There is a new children's club and a mini disco each evening followed by adult shows. The hotel is on the seafront where there is a lovely walkway going to Los Christianos in one direction and to Adeje the other way. There are plenty of bars to stop for a drink if you are taking a walk. . There are dozens of bars and restaurants close by and there is a good local bus service to take you around the island. This place ticks all the boxes for me and my next visit can't come soon enough. [Hide]

We had half board and this is the best way since the island is fantastic and there are so many things to be seen. The breakfast is one of the best I ever experience. Real fresh drinks , tens of choices , Spanish and international . The personell is fantastic and don't miss their show!!! Excellent! [Hide]

I stayed with a group of friends in the mare nostrum resort. I found the staff to be very attentive and the food to be of 4 star quality. I stayed at the med palace december 2006 this is my second visit to the mare nostrum resort and would definatly go again to the hotel as the location is excellent and there are loads of top qualitity restaurants and shop nearby, I my wife and son booked a suite with a private pool which for £750 through clearblueseas.com is outstanding value for money , I admit the hotel is a little jaded around the edges but the location more than makes up for this there is the best beach on the south of tenerife just at the front of the hotel, i would honestly rate the hotel 4star plus ,if you want truly five stars stay at the villa cortes just down the road but you will pay twice the price for the same location. We have stayed in the Mare Nostrum resort at the Mediterranean Palace and the Cleopatra Palace several times. They are in a great location - beautiful shops and restaurants at the front of the complex (try the Monkey Bar Grill and El Faro for super food) and the beach directly outside the back. The rooms are quite basic and dated for a 5 star hotel - however we have always been comfortable and the rooms and public facilities are very clean. The breakfasts in the buffet restaurants (you can eat at any one - not just at the hotel you are staying in) is good - excellent choice. Have only eaten snacks during the day at the various poolside cafes which are also very good. We prefer the pool facilities behind the Cleopatra Palace as the sunbeds have mattresses! All in all, this hotel complex is in a great location, and very safe as it is "gated". It is good value for money and although it's not as luxurious as some 5 star hotels, the location makes up for the slightly dated rooms - I would recommend it for a comfortable, clean, good value, relaxing holiday in a great location.
